Wes Montgomery's first album for Verve, produced by Creed Taylor and recorded at A&R Studios, New York, in November 1964. Arranged by Johnny Pate, it pairs Montgomery's octave-driven guitar with a brass-and-percussion big band (three trumpets, four trombones, two tubas, plus rhythm section and Willie Bobo on percussion), marking his move toward a more pop-inflected, orchestrated jazz sound. Original 1965 US Verve stereo pressing, gatefold sleeve, catalog V6-8610.
