Apocalypse is the third studio album by Mahavishnu Orchestra, featuring the London Symphony Orchestra conducted by Michael Tilson Thomas and produced by George Martin, who called it "one of the best records [he had] ever made. " The album showcases John McLaughlin's symphonic vision, blending classical orchestration with jazz-rock fusion across five compositions recorded at AIR Studios, London in March 1974. Featuring the band's second lineup including Gayle Moran, Jean-Luc Ponty, Ralphe Armstrong, and Narada Michael Walden, the album received poetry from Sri Chinmoy on its back cover.
